  54. *. SECTION 2 - ACCESSING JEPP/LINK
  55.  
  56. *.   2.1  GETTING STARTED ON JEPP/LINK
  57.      ---------------------------------
  58.  
  59.      Use any computer or terminal to access Jepp/Link.  To receive
  60.      graphic weather maps, you must use our Jepp/Link Access software.
  61.      Call Jeppesen Sanderson at 800-553-7750 to order your copy.
  62.      (Software is available for IBM or compatible computers).  Jepp/Link
  63.      Access software is NOT copy protected.  You may make copies for
  64.      friends and associates.

  107.      Jepp/Link is available through three communications carriers.  Each
  108.      requires a different response to ensure your PC or terminal has
  109.      completed the proper "handshake"  with our mainframe computers.
  110.  
  111.            1)  COMPUSERVE NETWORK:  After connecting, press RETURN once.
  112.                When asked for "HOST ID", enter JEPP and press RETURN again.
  113.  
  114.            2)  TYMNET NETWORK:  After connecting, press RETURN once.  When
  115.                asked "PLEASE ENTER TERMINAL ID", enter the letter A.  At
  116.                "PLEASE LOG-IN", enter JEPP and press RETURN once.
  117.  
  118.            3)  DIRECT DIAL (800 SERVICE):  Set your communications software
  119.                to dial 1-800-767-7000.  After connecting, hit the RETURN
  120.                key twice.
  121.  
  122.      NOTE:  Call COMPUSERVE and TYMNET for the local access numbers to
  123.             use when accessing Jepp/Link through their services.

  128. *.   2.3  LOGGING ON WITH JEPP/LINK ACCESS SOFTWARE
  129.      ----------------------------------------------

  131.      Jepp/Link Access software is a communications/graphics program
  132.      designed for quick and easy access to Jepp/Link.  It is necessary
  133.      to receive the graphic weather maps.
  134.  
  135. *.   2.4  REGISTRATION AND BILLING INFORMATION
  136.      -----------------------------------------
  137.  
  138.      To register, enter your name, address, and credit card number.
  139.      During the registration process, you will be asked to accept the
  140.      Terms and Conditions of the Jepp/Link service contract.  Jepp/Link
  141.      will issue a LOGON ID number and ask you to create a PASSWORD
  142.      containing 6 to 8 characters.  Please write down your LOGON ID and
  143.      PASSWORD and keep them in a safe place for reference.  There is a
  144.      one-time registration fee for all users signing on to Jepp/Link.
  145.  
  146.      Each Jepp/Link session will be charged directly to your VISA or
  147.      MASTERCARD.   Service charges are based on a per-minute rate.
  148.      This entitles you to ALL Jepp/Link services.  Rates vary depending
  149.      upon where you call from and the network you use (Compuserve, Tymnet,
  150.      or Direct Dial 800 Service).  Registration fees and service charges
  151.      are subject to change without notice.
  152.  
  153.      You may review service charges, make account inquiries, or change
  154.      your credit card information in the BILLING section at the main
  155.      menu.
  156.  
  157.      NOTE:  If you lose your LOGON ID or PASSWORD and wish to use
  158.             Jepp/Link, you must register again as a first time user.
  159.             Please write down your LOGON ID number and PASSWORD and keep
  160.             them in a safe place.

  162. *.   2.5  CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD
  163.      ---------------------------
  164.  
  165.      For added security, you may change your Jepp/Link PASSWORD by
  166.      selecting SYSTEM DEFAULTS at the main menu.  You will need your
  167.      old PASSWORD to make this change.
  168.  
  169.      NOTE:  Your Jepp/Link LOGON ID cannot be changed unless you register
  170.             again.

  172. *. SECTION 3 - JEPP/LINK WEATHER BRIEFINGS
  173.  
  174. *.   3.1  NON-GRAPHIC WEATHER BRIEFINGS
  175.      ----------------------------------
  176.  
  177.      Jepp/Link offers three types of text weather briefings:  ROUTE
  178.      BRIEFINGS, LOCAL BRIEFINGS, and SELECTED WEATHER BRIEFINGS.  All
  179.      text weather received from the National Weather Service is encoded.
  180.      For decoding assistance, select TIPS ON READING NON-GRAPHIC WEATHER
  181.      from the AVIATION WEATHER menu.
  182.  
  183.      ROUTE WEATHER BRIEFING (R) ---- The route briefing provides
  184.      weather reports (NWS and FAA) within a 25nm area on either side of the
  185.      route of flight.  Choose a "standard" briefing, enter selected
  186.      reports, or request a list of available report types.  An asterisk (*)
  187.      on this list indicates reports included in a "standard" briefing.
  188.  
  189.      LOCAL BRIEFING (L) ---- The local briefing provides weather
  190.      reports within a 25nm radius of a specified airport, navaid, or
  191.      weather reporting location.  Enter the location identifier(s), and
  192.      Jepp/Link will provide a "standard" briefing, selected reports only,
  193.      or a list of available reports.
  194.  
  195.      SELECTED REPORTS BRIEFING (S) ---- You may select weather reports
  196.      for specific airports, navigational aids, or weather reporting
  197.      locations.  Please separate multiple reporting stations and multiple
  198.      reports by commas or spaces.
  199.  
  200.             EXAMPLE: SA,UA,FT,NOD
  201.  
  202.      NOTE:  JEPP/LINK INCLUDES ONLY THOSE FDC NOTAMS THAT HAVE NOT YET
  203.             BEEN PUBLISHED.  STANDARD ROUTE AND LOCAL WEATHER BRIEFINGS
  204.             INCLUDE FDC NOTAMS ASSOCIATED WITH LOCATIONS WITHIN THE
  205.             25NM SEARCH AREA.  A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF UNPUBLISHED
  206.             FDC NOTAMS IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE "SELECTED REPORTS
  207.             BRIEFING".

  209.      NOTE:  THE REPORT TYPE "CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK" IS AVAILABLE ONLY
  210.             THROUGH THE "SELECTED REPORTS BRIEFING".

  212. *.   3.2  JEPP/LINK AVIATION WEATHER MAPS
  213.      ------------------------------------
  214.  
  215.      Jepp/Link provides a complete range of aviation-specific weather
  216.      maps.  To receive Jepp/Link aviation weather maps, you must use
  217.      the Jepp/Link Access software and have the following hardware:
  218.  
  219.                DISPLAY black and white maps - Hercules, CGA, EGA, or VGA
  220.  
  221.                DISPLAY color maps           - EGA or VGA
  222.                                               512k of memory
  223.  
  224.                PRINT maps (B/W ONLY)        - IBM ProPrinter, IBM Graphics,
  225.                                               Epson MX, or a printer which
  226.                                               emulates one of the above
  227.  
  228.  
  229.      All maps are available in black and white and some are available in
  230.      color.  You can display color maps on your monitor, but they cannot
  231.      be printed.  Color maps must be retrieved in black and white format
  232.      to be printed.  Jepp/Link maps are automatically captured to disk so
  233.      you can print and display them offline.  (See Jepp/Link Access
  234.      Software User Guide for details.)  Some maps may not fill the entire
  235.      display when they are downloaded.   Jepp/Link Access software corrects
  236.      this automatically when a map is displayed or printed offline.
  237.  
  238.      Select TIPS ON READING WEATHER MAPS from the AVIATION WEATHER menu
  239.      for help reading or interpreting maps.
  240.  
  241.      NOTE:  For a complete list of available maps, select SERVICE
  242.             DESCRIPTIONS at the main menu.

  245. *. SECTION 4  - COMPUTERIZED FLIGHT PLANNING AND FLIGHT PLAN FILING
  246.  
  247. *.   4.1  JEPP/LINK FLIGHT PLANNERS
  248.      ------------------------------
  249.  
  250.      Jepp/Link flight planners provide course, distance, headings,
  251.      estimated time enroute, and fuel burn.  Times and headings are
  252.      based on winds forecast for your proposed altitude and route of
  253.      flight.
  254.  
  255.      Flight Planner 1   - Given your route of flight, Jepp/Link
  256.                           computes course and distance information
  257.                           only.
  258.  
  259.      Flight Planner 2   - Enter your route of flight, enroute altitude,
  260.                           true airspeed, and fuel flow.  Jepp/Link
  261.                           prints a complete flight log, including
  262.                           magnetic courses and headings, distances,
  263.                           time enroute, and fuel burn for each route
  264.                           segment.

  266. *.   4.2  FLIGHT PLAN FILING
  267.      -----------------------
  268.  
  269.      Jepp/Link files both VFR and IFR flight plans directly with the
  270.      appropriate FAA facility (FSS or ARTCC).  You will enter the
  271.      standard information requested on the FAA's flight plan forms.
  272.      When you have entered all the data, Jepp/Link displays your plan.
  273.      You may change the plan, file it, or quit without filing.  When all
  274.      modifications have been made, Jepp/Link stores the flight plan and
  275.      forwards it to the controlling FSS or ARTCC at least one hour before
  276.      departure.  The file time (in UTC) and the FSS/ARTCC are displayed
  277.      when you file the plan.  You may amend or cancel your flight plan
  278.      with Jepp/Link up to the file time.  After that, call the
  279.      displayed FSS or ARTCC directly.
  280.  
  281.      To verify the FAA designator required to identify your aircraft type,
  282.      use the ENCODE feature by entering 'E' at the prompt for aircraft
  283.      type.  Jepp/Link will search for the designator by manufacturer or by
  284.      model.
  285.  
  286. *.   4.3  AMEND/CANCEL FLIGHT PLANS
  287.      ------------------------------
  288.  
  289.      You may amend or cancel your flight plan on Jepp/Link until it is
  290.      filed with the FAA.  Jepp/Link files both VFR and IFR flight plans
  291.      approximately one hour before your proposed departure time.  When
  292.      you choose AMEND or CANCEL at the FLIGHT PLANNING menu, Jepp/Link
  293.      lists all flight plans with your tail number waiting to be filed.
  294.      Enter the plan number to specify the one you wish to amend or cancel.

  296. *.   4.4  YOUR FLIGHT PLAN TEMPLATE
  297.      ------------------------------

  299.      Create a flight plan template to store selected flight plan
  300.      information to be used each time you file with Jepp/Link.  Choose
  301.      CREATE/EDIT FLIGHT PLAN TEMPLATE from the FLIGHT PLANNING menu.
  302.      Enter the information you wish to store and an asterisk (*) at the
  303.      prompts that are subject to change.

  306. *. SECTION 5 - ENCODE/DECODE FEATURE
  307.  
  308. *.   5.1  ENCODING/DECODING LOCATION IDENTIFIERS
  309.      -------------------------------------------

  311.      Use ENCODE and DECODE for assistance with location identifiers.
  312.      You will find these features on the AVIATION WEATHER menu, the
  313.      FLIGHT PLANNING menu, and at any prompt requiring a location
  314.      identifier.

  316.      Enter 'E' to encode.  Jepp/Link will ask you for the name and state
  317.      of the airport, navaid, or weather reporting location. All matching
  318.      location identifiers will be displayed.
  319.  
  320.      To decode, enter 'D'.  At the prompt, enter the associated location
  321.      identifier(s).  Multiple identifiers may be entered, each separated
  322.      by a comma or a space.
  323.  
  324.      To save time, use a single-line entry.  Type 'E/' followed by the
  325.      name and state or type 'D/' followed by the location identifier(s).

  371.      quick and easy.  Enter 'H' or 'HELP', and Jepp/Link will explain

  374.      SUGGESTION BOX or call Jepp/Link Customer Service at (408) 379-JEPP
